A Voyager’s Journal

In early May 2018 I left my executive role in the health and ageing sector to semi retire; to give myself the time and space to pursue other parts of my life. I had an opportunity for an extended voyage in the Mediterranean and over time this became a priority.  Travel and adventure had always been high on the list, but it was only recently I’d thought of heading away without a fixed return date.  New experiences had now found their time; learning to sail a yacht, how to navigate, how to read weather patterns and their potential impact on a voyage, learning a new language, climbing mountains I hadn’t known existed. The chance to do this with the people I loved made it all the more compelling.

Alongside all of this was the need to start writing again. Writing is when and where I feel most alive. For many years I’d successfully ignored the fact I’d not written a word that wasn’t work related. I could ignore that no longer. So I left work with a clear idea to literally start new chapters and to strike a new balance;  finding time for creativity, adventure, personal and physical exploration, a bit of work and, importantly, relationships. It seemed like a good recipe for life-long wellbeing.

This site will trace the new chapters unfolding.

Welcome to this site. Its purpose is to share a personal exploration of the world and its people.
